General Notes:
[Brooks.ged]
We have an original story written by Tam Brooks concerning escape from Camp Morton, Indiana Yankee prison during Civil War. I also have new clippings about his store in Hillsboro, Tx. and I have several pictures of him, and I have been to his grave and have pictures of it and a rubbing of it. He was named for the famous warrior, Tamerlane, also seen spelled Tamerlain and Timur the Lame. He was called Tam, and held no special rank in the Civil War. In a history book on Hill County, Texas, he is misspelled as Tom Brooks. In Sue Brooks' bible records his first name is spelled Tamerline, and no middle name is mentioned.
Mormon records check April 1995 showed Tamberlane Xenophen Brooks, l3th child, born 1844 in Cobb, Ga. It shows no spouse, and since he was my great grandfather, I think my family records are more likely to be correct.
Noted events in his life were:
• Alt. Birth. 1 13th Child, 7Th Or 8Th Son From That Marriage
• Alt. Name. 1 Named For Famous Warrior Timur The Lame
• Military Service. 1 Escaped From Prison During Civil War
