bullet  General Notes:

[Brooks.ged]

Nana showed George McIntosh Troupe Brooks born 1830. Sue Brooks' bible
records just show Troupe and born in 1829. Mormon record April of 1995
shows George McIntosh Brooks born 1829 in Dekalb, Ga. and spouse of
Elizabeth Hardin...Lizzie Hardin. Nana's records show that he died six
months before the birth of his one child on Sept. 30, l85l at Cedar
Grove, Ga. It is not entirely clear, but it looks as if the one child
was Georgia Anna Brooks. George McIntosh Ttoupe Brooks died of yellow
fever at Shreveport, La. on his way to Texas with his brother Nat
(Cincinnatus Ney Brooks) who came on to Texas and settled on Jack's
Branch, 3 miles west of Hillsboro, Tx. His widow then moved to New
Castle, Arkansas about 1860 and married a Mr. Whitfield Stant or Stout
and had 6 children. Nana goes on to describe Georgia Anna Brooks
married Alonzo Shaver in July of 1869, and if she was the one child born
six months after her father's death that would have made her about 18,
which is about right. They had five children out of ten that lived to be
grown. See page 27 of Nana's notes if I decide to print these 5
children. They would be very distant cousins; so I,m not going to put
the effort into it at this time.
