Madison E. Brown, 35, and his wife Nannie, 40 were living in Randleman, North Carolina with their children, William M., 16, David L., 14, Elliott E., 2, Abigail O., 10, Cors Jane, 7, Mary E., 5, Nathaniel J., 2, and Ida Marell, two months. All eight of the children born to Nannie were living. The four older children were in school and could read, write, and speak English as could their parents. Madison owned his farm free nd clear and the three oldest boys, William, David and Elliott were working on the farm. All members of the family were born in North Carolina as were their parents.

E. E. Brown, 32, and wife, Lena, 30, lived on Hwy 62 in Asheboro with his children, Bertha, 10, Edna, 7, Ruth, 5, Gladys, 3, and Violet. He worked odd jobs at a filling station. He owned his home and had $1500 in real property. He was 20 when he married Lena. She was 18. Bertha and Edna had attended school in the last year. E. E., Lena and Bertha could read and write and speak English. They were all born in North Carolina as were the entire family's parents.

7 "Allred Funeral Tuesday 3 P. M. South Plainfield," (Asheboro) The Courier-Tribune, 29 Nov 1954, p. 8, col. 4; Mrs. Tamer Millikan Allred, 84, died Sunday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lena brown on route 1, Sophia, after a long illness.
Survivors include two other daughters, Mrs. May Rich of route 1, Sophia, and Mrs. Florence Lilly of Randleman; one son, Troy Allred of route 1, Sophia; 41 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 3 p. m. at the South Plainfield Friends church by the Rev. Howard Hard and the Rev. Mr. Crater. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the home of her son, Troy, at 2 p. m. today.

RANDLEMAN-Mrs. Lena Allred Brown, 85, of Rt. 2, Sophia, died this morning at Brian Nursing Center, Asheboro.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Pugh Funeral Home.
She was a native of Randolph County, a housewife and member of South Plainfield Friends Meeting.
Surviving are daughters, Miss Bertha Brown, Mrs. Violet Cox, both of Sophia, Mrs. Edna Hodgin, Mrs. Ruth Ingold, both of Asheboro, Mrs. Gladys Herlocker of Arlington, Va; sons, Luther Brown, David Brown and Colin Brown, all of Sophia; sisters, Mrs. Florence Lilly and Mrs. May Rich, both of Sophia; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 4 p.m today at South Plainfield Friends Meetin, where she was a member. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a native of Randolph County, a homemaker.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. [sic] Bertha Brown and Mrs. Violet Cox of Sophia, Mrs. Edna Hodgin and Mrs. Ruth Ingold of Asheboro, Mrs. Gladys Herlocker of Arlington, Va; sons, Luther, David and Colin Brown of Sophia; sisters, Mrs. Florence Lilly and Mrs. May Rich of Sophia; 14 grandchildren.
