Gerlaug was Rollo's daughter (Gange-Rolv). "Dictionaire de Biographie Française" av J. Bateau oppgir at hun var hans datter i ekteskapet med Popa av Bayeux (gift med Rollo i 886), idet hun var født før traktaten av 911 i St. Clair-sur-Epte. I denne fikk Gange-Rolv av Karl "den Enfoldige" landet omkring Seine ned til havet og hans datter Gisela til hustru. I 969 stiftet hun klosteret la Trinité.
