General Notes:
[Brooks.ged]
According to Nana's notes, William Brooks came from England early in the 18th century (that would make it somewhere between 170l and 1750.) His family was lost by shipwreck, and he married again in North Carolina and reared a large family, one of whom was Jacob Brooks, whom I have shown as Jacob Possibly Joab? Brooks. Joab was my idea. I have guessed at birthdates based on information that he came to America early in th 18th Century (1700s) and based on a twenty to twenty-five year gap between generations for his son Jacob who had John who had Stephen who had Jacob Reed Brooks (the first known birthdate in this line of the family). There is a Micajah Brooks who lived to be over 100 years old and was a witness that he knew another ancestor of mine, Benjamin Davis, and that he knew Benjamin Davis enlisted from Chatham County (either North or South Carolina...I don't have the record in front of me right now). I believe since he knew the Davis family and they lived around each other and he lived so long, and he was in the Rev. War. that he is probably a relative, but I don't know for sure. This Micajah is in the DAR Patriot Index, and possibly I also saw him in Gone to Georgia, and he was a witness at pension hearing for Benjamin Davis's widow, Elizabeth Daniel Davis. I wonder if Micajah Brooks was a brother of some of my direct line.
William married Wife UNKNOWN WFT Est 1705-1739.1 (Wife UNKNOWN was born WFT Est 1677-1700 in , , North Carolina (Probably) 1 and died WFT Est 1720-1788 1.)
