Basanus married the daughter of Orcades, king of Norway. However, it should be noted that during Basanus's lifetime, about 300BC to 241BC, there was no country or kingdom of Norway. According to the legend of the founding of Norway (Fundin Noregre - introduction to the Orkneyinga), the area was not called Norway until Nor Thorrasson <kingsoffinland.html> conquered it while searching for his missing sister, Goi <kingsoffinland.html>.
