Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 24, at Level Cross Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Jerry Mills. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
Dwight was born on July 11, 1935, in Carthage, N.C., the son of Clayborn and Lois Berryman Thompson. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Dwight was co-founder of Holiday Tours of Level Cross. He was a loving husband, and will be deeply missed by his family.
Surviving is his wife, Nancy Rayle Brown Thompson; his family, David Brown and wife, Autumn of Greensboro, N.C., and Rhonda Moody and husband. Gary of Randleman, N.C; grandsons, David Moody and wife, Heather, Matthew Brown, and Jonathan Moody. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Louise Rayle.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.

Note: Dwight was estranged from his family by his first wife. He said "They shunned me in life. I don't want them to participate in my death." That is why his obituary lists only his second wife's family. As far as any of us know, the only family member present from his past was his sister. She did not ask and did not participate in the funeral with the family.
