Ifølge "Våre forfedre" av Mogens Bugge var Adelheid gift med Wilhelm I, dvs. far til Wilhelm II. Hun var gift 1. gang med hertug Raimund II av Gothien ("Rosensverdslektens forfedre": Greve Stefan av Gévaudan) og 2. gang i 982 med kong Ludvig V av Frankrike, men skilt fra ham ca. 984. Hun nevnes første gang i 986 som Vilhelms gemalinne.
