Stephen Jackson MEGEE

   Another name for Stephen was Samuel Jackson MEGEE.¹

  General Notes:

" (Old Uncle Jack to my father's generation). Born 1828, Tenn.; moved to Miss. with parents in 1837; m. [1] Sarah Crownover, 1848, Marshall Co., Miss.; m. [2] Eliza Edens (after 1870); migrated to Marion Co. (now Baxter), Ark., late in 1850; lived there except for trips into the Indian Territory (later Okla.), until about 1911, in which year he visited his elder brother, Daniel, then living in Ozark Co., Mo. (It is related by one who recalled that visit that Uncle Jack, at 83, could still swing into his saddle without using a stirrup.) He is remembered as a small, sprightly, and wiry man who sported a neatly trimmed spade beard. Died in Bengal (Latimer Co.), Okla., 1915-1916. Presumably buried near there."
