Megee (Jun 1858) was living with his wife Francis E., 41 (Aug 1858), and children, Dora, 13 (Sep 1886), James M., nine (Mar 1891), Francis E., nine (Mar 1891), and Paul, five (Nov 1894), in Bradley Township, Van Buren County, Arkansas. Also living in the household was 72-year-old Lydia Hutto (Nov 1827), his mother-in-law and Abbron Stevison, 26 ( May 1874), a boarder. James and Francis had been married 23 years. Francis had borne ten children, six of whom were alive at the time of the census. According to the census, Lydia had borne one child who was living. Francis was born in Mississippi and Lydia, her mother, in South Carolina. The rest of the family was born in Mississippi. James' parents were born in Mississippi. Francis' father was born in Alabama. Abbron was from Tennessee as were his parents. Abbron worked as a farm laborer James, Francis, and Dora could read and write as could Lydia and Abbron. The farm was enumerated on farm schedule #12.
