General Notes:
Rebecca WELLSFORD was married briefly to a HARDIMAN who died after about 6 months. They had no children. Hannah PIGGOTT was her daughter by John PIGGOTT. Hannah eventually married Samuel WHITE 1 Dec 1725/26 in Cecil County, MD. The following is excerpted from a letter to Richard D. WHITE from Martha G. CLINE of 372 E. Rudasill, Tucson, AZ 85704, dated 6 September 1993. Quote from the Jan 1975 Quaker Yeoman, edited by James BELLARTS, 7030 S.W. Canyon Road, Portland, OR 97225. From Milford A. PIGGOTT, 2316 Avalon Drive, Sacramento, CA 95825. "... One of the things that has puzzled me for some time, and I have been in contact with at least 14 others who have John PIGGOTT who m. 2nd Margery BROWN and 1st Rebecca HARDIMAN. We haven't been able to pinpoint Rebecca's parents. Not too long ago I found some information on my own that shows Rebecca's maiden name was WELLSFORD - WILLSFORD, etc. Mr. HARDIMAN died when they had been married only 6 months, not leaving any family. She then married John PIGGOTT and gave birth to four children. The last one, boy but not named, was born under bad circumstances, as Rebecca died at his birth and the boy lived only 30 days. So, everyone had thought that HARDIMAN was Rebecca's maiden name. I have found only three other people with the WELLSFORD name, but I cannot connect them as yet. The dates of their arrival from England fits Rebecca's first marriage. I have been trying for years to find out the parentage of John PIGGOTT, who most of think was converted to Quakerism by Honour BROWN and then consented for her daughter to marry John PIGGOTT..."
